A Brief History of Keyboard Music
The Fantasia in G by William Byrd is representative of music written in the Renaissance and depicts dance scenes and other features of that period. Liszt’s Vallee d’Obermann, one of the most profound piano works of the Romantic era, is inspired by poetry and prose by Senancourt and Lord Byron. The dazzling 3rd piano sonata by York-based Steve Crowther displays scintillating pianism and is highly challenging for the performer.
