Illuminate – Ethel Smyth Trio
September 7 @ 7:30 pm| £10 – £12
Illuminate Women’s Music is an organisation dedicated to the promotion of music, both historical and contemporary, composed by women. Illuminate Women’s Music also supports talented female performers, giving repeat performance opportunities across the UK. For the first season of 2019, Illuminate Women’s Music has commissioned five emerging composers Angela Elizabeth Slater, Sarah Westwood, Blair Boyd, Kerensa Briggs and Laura Shipsey to write new works, performed here by the Ethel Smyth Trio consisting of performers Jelena Makarova (piano) Elvina Auh (violin) and Daryl Giuliano (cello). These new works are programmed alongside a fantastic array of works by historical composers including Morfydd Owen, Lili Boulanger, Grażyna Bacewicz, Ruth Crawford Seeger and Ethel Smyth.
