Elysian Singers – CANCELLED

July 4 @ 7:30 pm

| £10 – £12

Event Navigation

Elysian singers Director, Sam Laughton, has devised a fascinating programme of choral music where each contemporary work is paired with an earlier piece based on words from the same poet or source. For example, Cheryl Frances-Hoad and Rachmaninoff’s settings of All Night Vigil, James MacMillan and Granville Bantock’s settings of Burns and Judith Weir and Joubert’s settings of words by George Herbert. There are three new works by David Power, David Lancaster and Tom Armstrong. There is also a six-minute song by Ivor Gurney which was only published last year, 93 years after it was composed.

Unfortunately, as of 29 April 2020, owing to the coronavirus and the UK’s response to it, this performance has been cancelled for this season.
